The following lines on Mr Chamberlain's famous electioneering promise of "three acres and a cow " for every English peasant — a promise he now denies that he made — are really excellent :— When Hodge receives that promised treat, Three acres and a cow, The cow will first the acres eat, Then Hodge will eat the c«\v. And when the doleful meal is o'er, And they want another full, They'll have to promise Hodge next time Six acres and a bull.
—East Anglian Times.
