Sib. — Would you allow me to a»k the Mangapiko ratepayers through the liiedium of your columm, whether they do not think it is a rather high-handed proceeding, to say the lea»t, to endeavour to foist a rate upon the people when a petition is before the Council, praying that the Road District Board may be merged into the County Council ? Surely it would be more decent to wait until that petition has been dealt with. I—l1 — I am, yours obediently R. T. Millar.
