Having been requested by a number of influential burgesses to offer myself as a candidate for your suffrages, I beg to inform you that I have great pleasure in acceding ; and if you do me the honour of returning me it shall be my study to spend your moneys fairly and economically, and also to do all I can to further the best interests of the town.
