On the arrival ot this morning's train from Wellingtm at Feathen>ton, Uetective Campbell arrested a man named Jas. Mitchell, alias Melvenzie, with a .swag containing all the jewellery stolon from Freeman's ji short time ago, about £800 in value. Mitchell has been suspected, and watched by the ]>olice for some time. A messenger of the Government Build ings, named PowiUwell, while on hi* way to Sir J. Vojrel'i residence, fell dead in Hill-stnit't. He had been unwell shortly before. He was about 05 years of age, and leaves a family.
