THE LATEST. [BY TELEGRAPH.-OWN CORRESPONDENT.]
Monday Night. Yesterday forenoon the body of a man was observed floating down the Waihou River by some settlers at Shaftesbury. It was brought to the bank near the residence ot Mr Hanmer, and information was at once .sent to Sergeant Emerson at Te Aroha, who proceeded to the spot, and had the body brought here yesterday evening. It is that of a n:iddle-aged man of medium height and strongly built, seemingly of dark complexion, with a dark beard and slightly bald. The cl«thing consists of a striped vest, crimson shirt, m<>le>kin trousers, elastic belt, and new watertight boot*. The body h.id e\ ideiitly been in the water for some time, and bears no maiks of violence. It has not yet been identified. An inquest will be held tomorrow forenoon.
