Poetry. THE WIFES KISS AT THE DOOR.

* DoN'r you kiss Harry * pood-bye !" I asked Of a sweet young wife of a year, As her husband went to his daily work, Saying only, 'Good-bye, my dear.' * Good-bye,' she staid, and she did not rise, And scarcely lifted her dreamy eyes. 'Don't you kiss Harry 'good-bye?" I asked. ' 0, yes ; sometimes I do, But we have been married over a year — And although our love is as true, Wo re not so lover-like now, you see; But he's just exactly as fond of me.' ' Dear little woman, you are so wrong - I know he loves yon as wellBut your farewell kiss and welcoming smile Are dearer than you can tell ; And his heart would be lighter all the day For your ' good-bye ' kiss ore he went away. ' I saw him pause at the door, dear child, With sad, expectant eyes ; And I know that on his kind, true heart Like a shadow your parting lies. You used to run to the outer door And whisper, 'Harry, juit one kiss more.' 'That was in your honeymoon, you say — Each moon is that to a wife ; You should grow dearer and nearei to him With every hour of your life ; Let the love of your heart shine out on your face : 'Twill make your home a happier place. ' Do you ever think in the morning, When he goes like this away, What a terrible thing may happen Before the end of the day. And it's sad enongh that his heart should miss The joy of the true wife's parting kiss. ' Be loving and sweet to your husband ; Be just as pretty aud bright As the girl he c.nne a courting When he comes home to-night : And when he goes in the morning, once more Run down and kiss him "good-bye ' at the door.'
