rp WEN T Y REASON S. 1 Why every Watch Buyer should Patronise
STEWART DAWSON & CO.
I. Because-ever moving in the van of protfreM - M We «j o> anc j bpiuj? ful|y a]jve to tho groat nocexsity of tj, o age we live in— lo yearn ago we abolished tho old slow, rf»undabnut xystcin of trading by a series of jj n finite ffr.id.iti»n-, thus noUiug the great commerciul problem of how to attain the maximuiin>felhciencyatth« minimum of cont to tho uB P r. We brought the manufacturer and tho public together, thus entirely X-P'-nsing with middlemen and ciimletelv iinmhilating the exorbitant profit* ol^ the importer and retail dealer. X Becauw we are the only Watch MannfHclurerH in the Australian Colonies dealing direct with the public, and where a retail dealer roll* one watch, we possibly sell 500 —hence the difference in price to all who patronise us. 3. Because in tho construction and niechnm.su. of nil our Watches we constantly aim.vt the /xUainme.nt of Excellence,' Efficiency, and Durability, together with High * innh and Perfect Timekeeping, knowing that entire satisfaction to every customer bring-; us increased trade through every Watch we sell. J 4. Because beiny manufacturers supply, ing our own production* to the public we are thoroughly conversant with every detail in their construction, and can thereby guarantee a certainty of their performance, a feature entirely out of the province of the ordinary retailer. 5. Because our watches being all made in our own Factory by the most skilled workmen, on the most impro\ed scientific system, a uniformity and fitness of purpose is obtained, forming the basin on which their merits hare so vastly accumulated during the severest test of time. <>. Because we retain all the bent elements of the lever e«capement an invented by Massey in Liverpool 80 years ago, and have added to the same many valuable improvements, bringing the 'English Lever VVatoh up to the highest state of perfection. 7. Because the whole movement is turned out of the solid — including frames, plates pinion.-), palets, and escapements— all being ga'iged and fitted by scientific machinery, ensuring perfection of exactitude in every detail. 8. Because the escapement is adjusted to the perfection of performance and jewelled in hard setting, and although it beats no less than 10,200 time* each hour, its deadbeat action will bo as perfect m 50 years' time as when first turned out. i). Because the hair springs are hardened and tempered to the highest degree of elasticity, contributing a uniform rate of motion indispensable to perfect time keeping. 10. Because all our watches have maintaining power and stop-work. The former com pei Is the Watch to go while being wound, and the latter makes overwinding an impossibility. The hands may also be turned backwaids and foi wards at option. 11. Because the dials are made of the very be>t hard white enamel, with artistically printed chapters and sunk recess for Hueond hands and fitted on to solid, hollowback frame". 12. Because every Watch is fitted with patent safety hair spring and stud fastener, which entirely prevents displacement in riding, jumping &i\ 13. Because the cases are very strong, st'jrlin? Mlver or IS carat gold, H.vll marked, and are du>t and damp proof, splendidly finished, and warranted to »tand constant wear an ordinaiy lifetime. 11. 'Because, unlike Watches of Foreign make, which are usually left with tho unseen parts of the movements rough and unfinished, every part of our English Watch is polished to the highest degree, after which it is treble gilt and frosted by steam power. This superior fim\h ensures the greatest durability. 15. Because all our Watches are made with interchangeable parts, and, in ca>,e of accident, any part can be replaced at the least possible co^t. Ki. Because we guarantee tho peiformance of every Watch for a period of from three to five years, and sell each on the condition that the pmchasnr has a week's free trial, enabling all to verify their match - losa value and quality. 17. Because jur system of manufacture issues in the production of a Watch that stands the roughest wear, and enjoys it ; gives its owner less trouble and more comfort ; will go More years and cost less in repairs than any other Watch known. 18. Bocauae we supply every grade— keywinding or keyless (ladio-. aud genW) including full and three quarter plate Levers, centre seoond\Chn»nogr«iph Levers, Double Chronographs, Half Chronoineteis, Railway Watches, fee, at about half usual retail price, all >tatod in our magnificent Illustrated Watch Pamphlet, and the inexperienced, can buy from Stewart Dawson hnd Co. with the same security as the most matured critic. 19. Because in proof of value and quality our Watches are known and celebrated by wearers wherever the English language is spoken. The sale from our head establishment, Liverpool, England, extends to every part of the United Kingdom and all part* of tho world ; while the patronage extended to our several Colonial branches obtains proportions that exceed the totals of all other Watches sold throughout the whole of Australasia put together. 20. Because the medley of discordant cries evoked by Watch Dealers on all sides, against us are the bf»>t evidences of the reforms we have effected — every reform affects more or less the persons who have profited by the system of business sought to be reformed. Human nature will out ; but we remain perfectly tranquil at the attempts made through jealousy to deprecate our Watches and our system of business, and the feeble efforts of others who try to emulate us. These are but the natural out- ' come of disappointment at their attenuated trade.
Note.— Every intending Watch Buyer should write for a copy of our magnificent new ILLUSTRATED WATCH P\MPHLET, containing splendid Engravings of each kind, drawn from the actual Watches ; also contains a concise history of the English Lever, its invention and dev elopement; and hundreds of wonderful Testimonials, British and Colonial. A copy will be sent for Threepence in stamps (cost of postage only) from
