WELLINGTON, Saturday. The total amount of donations received from church collections in aid of the hospital reached £300. The returns from the Catholic and several other churches have yet to come in. A successful trial haa been made of the electric light, fixed at Fort Baliance for defensive purposes.
GISBORNE, Monday. Mr George Johnson, brewer, formerly of Auckland, committed suicide this morning by blowing hia brains out.
