Thk Select Committee on Owhaoko and Kaimanawa Lands Bill, reported that there should be a rehearing with respect to Owhaoko No. 1 and 2 Owhaoko proper, and that a priina facie case for a rehearing had been made out. In the case of Kan inn awa and Oruanrjatau blocks in their opinion there is nothing to show partiality or favouritism on the part of Judges Fenton and Rogan. As to the charges against Mr Butler they offer no opinion, he being absent. There has no doubt, says the committee, been much irregularity in the proceedings of the Native- Land Couit, but they are of opinion it would not be right to guacfe that court by so strict a standaid as applied to others. They also add that Judge Fen ton performed certain executive duties and the letters and telegrams referred to in Sir K. Stout's memo, were within his exticutivo capacity. The weather which cleared up for twentyfour hours set in wet again to-night and in raining heavily. Mr Eustace Brandon who has occupied the portion of Examiner of Titles for tome yoars pa.^t, died this afternoon from inflammation of the lungs. Ho has been ailing for some time, but. was only confined to his bed three or four days. A young man named Jas. Annam, was drowned to-day in Waikouaiti. The body has not yet been recovered. The Xoithernors declare that unless tho Representation Bill is fought out they \\ ill stonewall tho Appropriation Bill.
