CHRISTCHURCH STEEPLECHASES. [BY TELEGRAPH.—PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Christchurch,Wednesday.
Thr Christchurch Hunt Club's Steeplechases were lield to-day in tino weather. The attendance was small. The principal event, the Open Hunt of 75<ovs, about three mile*, was won by Mr P. Butler's, Faitgh-a-Billagh, MrLnnn's Canard being second and Mr R. J. Mason's Victor third. Secretary and Mammal also ran. Faugh* a-Ballagh took the lead at the start and kept it to the finish. The Hunter's) Hurdle Race, of 20sovs, about a mile and a-half, brought eight horses to the post. Mr W. Westen's Archa I,', Mr Cotton's Nalvino 2, and Mr K. J v Mason's Free Lance 3. The Hunt Club Steeplechase, of fiOsovs.; 2^ miles, was one by Mr G. Rutherford's* nreadon* hill, beating «i>c others. The Tallyho Plate, of 30-sovs, 2 miles, was a victory for the Hon. R. Rodney's Cardinal, and was remarkable for the bif* dividend of £78 18s and £17 5s for the £2 and £1 shares, respectively, on the totalizator.
