[by telegraph.— pbkss association.] DUNEDIN. Saturday. A vebdict of " Found drowned " was returned at the inquest on John Hancock's body, found in Lake Wakatipu. The medical evidence wpnt to show that there were no wounds on the body to cause death. It appears that the death of Patrick Egan, at Skippers, was due to a truck, loaded with quartz, jumping off the rails aud crushing htn.
Monday. Tlie Daily Times says the workings on Capt. Kitchener's land, near Hampdon, aie turning out better than was anticipated. Gold of a rough water worn character seems to extend over many hundreds of acies. Water is scarce, but with two hours supply \'2% to 14s per day per man is being obtained. At the Dog Show Mr Twopeny's Belvoir Tom won the 21 guinea cup. Rabbidge and Dilberu's new telephone was successfully tested between Duuedin and Chmtchurch yestetday.
