THE MISSING J.P.

[by telegraph.— prkss association. J Wellington, Wednesday. A letter has been received by Mrs Levy from her husband, who left by Hauroto. The letter has not been made public, but as far as can be gathered is one of an extraordinary description, reading more like a page of a novel. It is understood he refutes what was contained in the anonymous letter to the Sydney police, and goes on to say that he was followed about by a strange man, whose very glance was sum* cient to make him tremble. He was in a stupid condition, even after his arrival in Sydney* aud it is said that he endeavoured to nrid his mother, w,ho was over in Sydney, but .his, memory appeared to be C3inpletely gone; and he could not recollect anything, either as to how he had got to Sydney, or as-.to the address of his mother. The letter iscttouched in affectionate terms, and says that no one who knew him could think him guilty; of wilfully deserting his family.
