MARRIED ON HORSEBACK.

A corrksi'oxdknt of the Ne\r York Sun states that the quiet little village of Henryville, Clark County, Indiana, was aroused the othei* night from its usual sleepy condition by a loniautic elopement, with unusually exciting surroundings. While the Rev. Seymour (luernscy was holding service in his little church at half -past seven p.m., the congregation was startled by a cry from the door, "Hallo, the church !" One of the wardens went to the church door and soon returned, making the announcement that "a couple at the door wanted to get married in a powerful hurry." The Rev. Mr Guernsey went to the door, and found there a lady and gentleman mounted on hor&es flecked with foatn and blowing, n& if from a long, hard gallop. They gave their names as Martin Mall anil .Sara I'ixley. They exhibited a Washington County license, and asked the minister to marry them in haste. After some deliberation the Rev. Mr Guernsey concluded to perform the ceremony. .So, with the congregation of the "church gathered around, the young couple joined hands without dismounting, and were nude man and wife. The young groom breathed easier after the knot had been tied, and explained that tho "old gentlenun,' 1 meaning Mr Pixley, was not far behind, and that he had had a race of 30 miles in order to get his bride. Mr and Mrs Mall, without further delay or preparation, turned their noises' heads, and started on the 30-mile return trip to their home in Washington County.
