LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL
FRIDAY. In the Council the Spe >ker ruled that the Gold Duty Reduction Jiill could not be introduced this session, because it would be againit the standing orders, which provided that any Bill rejected by the Council could not bo rointrodnced during the leinaindur of the session. The Bill was ordered to be laid aside. The Nati\e Land Administration Bill and the Native Land Court Bill were read a third time, the Public Bodies Leasing Bill and Admiuis tration Amendment Bill were read a first time. hi reply to Sir F. Whitaker, the Speaker said considering tho Government Loans to Local. Bodies Bill was a money Bill, he could "by leave of the Council direct that it should bo laid aside. Tho Speaker was directed accordingly. The Counties Bill and First Offenders Bill were read a third time and passed. The Civil Service Reform Bill, and the Auckland Harbour Loan Bill, were further considered in committee and progress rereported. The Council at 5 p.m. adjourned till Monday.
