PISCICULTURE IN WAIKATO.
A vixii batch of trout were despatched yesterday morning by the early train to Te Awamutu by Mr Gelling, from the Hamilton Domain Board hatchery. The fish were well-grown yearlings, nearly forty in number, all in splendid condition, varying from about eight inches to four in length. Mr Gordon came down on behalf of the Kihikihi Town Board, purposely to escort and attend them on the way, having made all airangemeuts for conveyance to and from the railway fetation to their final destination, the tributaries of the Puniu river. The morning being cuol and the fish furnished with abating apparatus and a good supply of the same water in which they were bred, there is every reason to evpect they will bo liberated successfully. The hatching season is near at hand, and arrangements have again been made to hatch out this season, but the fish will be distributed earlier next year, as it entails a considerable amount of work and auxious care to rear them to the stage they have been brought to this year.
