STRANGE FREAK OF A TOURIST. [BY TELEGRAPH.-OWN CORRESPONDENT.]
Rotokua, Friday. Mr H. M. Cotton, of Lake Coleridge, Canterbury, arrived here by the Oxford coach yesterday, and was accompanied by his wife. He left the Palace Hotel alone about 4 o'clock in the afternoon, and went to Sulphur Point. Not returning for dinner, search parties went in quest, but without success. He was at Mrs Morrisons Hotel and Brent's boarding house about 6 p.m., but nothing further could be traced of him. The search was continued all to-day. Late in the afternoon his foot prints wore traced on the Taupo road, and Mr Marchesseau at once started off with a buggy to bring him back if possible. Mr Cotton's mind is supposod to be deranged. It is probable he may have gone on to Atiamuri. Mr Johnson, Government Agent, offered a reward of £2 to those who found him.
