[BY TELEGRAPH.— PttfiSfc' ASSOCIATION.] Christchuuch, Wednesday. A ykry singular case came before the R.M., Mr Beetham, to-day, and resulted in » police sergeant being bound over to keep the peace. It ' appears that Sergt. Alexander Wilson had been provoked by the impertinence of a boy who was waiting upon him at the mess room of the Christchurch Police Station, and had cuffed the boy's ears. The boy remarked that he would take the law for it, and brought au action against the aergeant for as.sault. The magistrate did not consider the case one calling for any penalty,. an.d simply bound Sevgt. Wilson over to keep the peace in his own recognizance for £25.
