WAIKATO COUNTY COUNCIL.
The usual monthly meeting of the Waikato County Council was held yesterday afternoon at tho Council Chambers, Hamilton. Present : Mr A. Primrose (chairman), Councillors Runcunan, B.irugh, and Johnson. The Clerk read the minutes of the last meeting which were confirmed. A letter was read from Mr d>om, Resident Engineer, New Zealand Railways, stating that if the council wanted a crossing over the railway at Huntly they must make formal applications to the Government, so as to have the matter referred to Wellington. A letter from Mr J. B. Whyte waa road, stating that the Minister for Lands would veat the Peach Grove (Lot 223 a, Kirikiriroa) in the council. Out-going correspondence was read. To Mr J. B. Whyte, thanking him for his action \q the Peach Grove Reserve which Ills bean reserved for agricultural college purpose*. Councillor Johnson again attacked the engineer reg.uding the measurement^ «>f Casbeys cutting stating that the engineer had paid Casbev for 150 yards too much earth, and demanded an investigation. The council declined to take any steps in tho matter until they had a professional opinion about it. Councillor Johnson reported that no one was woiking at the Wairangi swamp road. The Engineer was instructed to see that the work was carried out. A number of accounts were passed fur payment. Councillor Barugh reported that he would attend no more meetings of the Hospital and Charitable Aid Boards as it was useless for him to do so.
