FRIDAY. Mr Hislop moved the second reading of the "Wairoa Gas Bill. After a long discussion the motion for the .second reading was lost by 26 to 2->. Mr D. Reese moved that the Bill be read a second time on next bitting day which was also lost by 2S to 20. It was then ordered that the Bill ba read that day month. Mr Ormond brought up the report of tho Government Insurance Committee. Major Atkinson asked whether the lion, gentleman intended taking any further action on it. Mr Ormond said he had no such intenat present but no doubt Government would affoid an oppoitunity for the repoit being disciussed, as the subject was one which iequireded attention. In reply to Mr Ormond, Sir R. Stout said the Government purposed gi^i"? opportunities for discussing the repoit this session. Sn K. Stout moved that the House at its rising adjourn till half-past 2 on Monday. Agreed to The House rose at o 30. On resuming it was decided that private members' business should be taken on Monday up to 5.30 p.m. The Mining Bill was passed. On the Beer Duty Act Amendment Bill, Sir J. Vogel moved a new clause prohibiting the manufacture of cordials or aerated waters in breweries. Lost bv 3d to 32. Sir J. Vogel said he would not proceed any further with the Bill. Mr Fergus resinned the debate on the Loan Bill, which occupied the attention of tho House up to the time of our going to press. (Left sitting.)
