LIMELIGHT ENTERTAINMENT AT HAMILTON.

A limelight entertainment, given by Mr J. Reid, of Hamilton, took placein the Oddfellows' Hall on Thursday night, and proved a complete success. Mr W. Dey gave a descriptive lecture with appropriate readings. The views, which were nearly all photographs, were very clearly brought out on the screen, and evoked loud and frequent applause. A large and enthusiastic audience was kept amused and delighted for two hours, and showed its appreciation of the musical selections in a most emphatic manner. The juvenile portion of the community was fully represented, as many heads of families had availed themselves of this opportunity to give the children a treat which combined instruction with amusement. The following is the programme of the musical part of the performance: — Duct, " Huntingtower," Miss Campbell and Mr Reid ; sonfi, " Better bide a wee," Miss Campbell ; song, " Jessie's Dream," Mrs Murray ; song, " Rantin' Robin," Mr Reid ; song, " Coming through the rye," Miss W. Murray; song, "The Lost Chord," Miss Wild. Miss Trewheellar's Bong. We hear that it is Mr Reids intention to give an exhibition in Cambridge within a fortnight, and we can confidently recommend this entertainment to all who wish to spend a pleasant and instructive evening.

My A. Bruce Suttor invites tenders up to Thursday, 29. h inst., for deepening a drain aoout 120 cha »l.
