LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL.

FRIDAY. The Council met at 2.30 p.m. Mr Menzien presented ne\eral petitions from the women of Dtinedin against the Contagious Disease-* Act. Mr Reynolds mo\ed the second reading 1 of the Civil Service Reform Bill. Dr. Pollen strongly opposed tho Bill, and counselled Mr Reynolds to consign it to the waste paper bn«ket. Sir Y. Whitakor moved the adjournment of the debate till Tuesday. The motion w.w agreed to. The Local Bodies Loann Bill wan read a third time and parsed. The Council adjourned till Tuesday next.
