The cricket match, Australians v. Nottingham, was resumed to-day. The weather was fine, and there was a good attendance, great interest being taken in the game. The wicket was rather lumpy. The visitors with 23 runs and 3 wickets down, continued their first innings, which closed for 175 runs, 22 behind the Englishmen. The highest individual scorers were Palmer, caught, 59 ; Gitfen, bowled, 34 ; Bonnor, bowled, 40. The bowling of the home team was dead on. At the close of the day's play the Notts had scored 81, with 2 wickets down. Shrewsbury contributed 28, bowled. July 10. The match was resumed to-day. The weather was fine and the attendance good. The wicket was in better order than on the previous day. The home team continued their second innings, which closed for 157, of which Scotton made 45 before he was caught. The Australians, who required 180 runs to win, then went to the wickets, and when the stumps were drawn had lost 4 wickets for 122 runs, the principal scorers being— Jones caught, 40; Scott, caught and bowled, 35 ; Giffen, not out, 24. The game was declared drawn.
