SUPREME COURT, AUCKLAND.
At Tuesday's sitting of tlio court Thomas Hind Toppin, convicted on the previous day of uttering a forged order for money, was sentenced to eighteen month-,' imprisonment. John Hughes and William Cole were charged with breaking and entering a store at the Wade and stealing two cases of spirits. Hughes pleaded guilty to receiving some of the spirits, and was sentenced to six months' imprisonment. Cole pleaded not guilty, stood his trial, and was acquitted. Mary Ann T)i\on, for unlawfully wounding Harry Power in a drunken brawl in Chancery-lane, was sentenced to siv months' imprisonment. Robert Kearn, for larceny of a watch and chain from the Star Hotel, was sentenced to nix months' imprisonment. Charles Palmer, for uttering a forced chequr, was sentenced to three years penal servitude ; and James Keenan, for robbery from the person, was sentenced to two years imprisonment.
Mr John Bettley offers a reward for a loat bullock, and Mr J. W. Smith, Tamah«re, for the recovery of a bay mare.
