The cricket match Australia r. Middlesex concluded to-day. The attendance was good, and the weather splendid. The home team continued their second innings, which closed for 217, the principal icorobeimr made by S. P. Scott, who put together 68 runs befm-e he was desposed of. Palmer, fur the visitors, took seven wickets for 80 runs. The Australians, who required 123 to win, then went in for the secord innings, and secured the desired number of runs, with the loss of nine wickets, Giffen (bowled), for 32. being the principal scorer. Middlesex: First innings, 259; second innings, 217 ; total, 476. Australians : First inninev, 354 ; second innings, nine wickets for 123 : total, 477> The visitor* thus won the match with one wicket to spare. Great interest was taken in the match. The field* ing of the home team was excellent, several splendid catches being made. The visitors were entertained by the Marylebone Cricket Club at a banquet last night.

Mr J. Hart, of Te Aroha, has erected new premises ft few doors from bu late store in Wliitaker-street, into which he has just removed his business. He has added grocery to the drapery trade, as will be seen by his advertisement in this issue. Aa he has Adopted a cash system, and intends selling at low prices, he should receive a considerable amount of patronage. Mr R. Loder has leased the stable* and yard attached to the Te Aroha Club Hotel, which are cleanly, and have several comfortable loose-boxes.
