Extraordinary Scene at an Irish Town Council.
A Galwny telegram states that at j the meeting of the Commissioners there 1 on Thursday, the 13th May. Councillor O'Sullivan rose to make an attack on another member of the board, who, at the last meeting had applied opprobrious epithets to him. The chairman (Colonel OHara) called upon him to sit dowu, which Mr O'Sullirtn refused to do. Several members charged Mr O'Sullivan with being drunk, and an indescribable scene took place; Mr Tierney said he would " pull the windpipe out of him." The chairman said he would act as a Magistrate and order his arrest, and, the police being sent for, Mr O'Sullivan was arrested, offering very slight resistance. He defied the chairman until the instant the police laid hands upon him. He was , taken to Newtownsinith police station, where he was detaiued.
