Auckland, Friday Night. Thk match between Speight and Morsehead fur the walking championship was a fiasco. Speight did not walk, having injured his ankle. Morsehead walked the tima upecitied, and claims the stakes. Tht captain and mate of the Petrel were formally charged at the Police Court, today, and remanded. About 400 people at the Police Court hooted them as they were taken to the cells. The schooner Waipu arrived from Gisborne to-day. On her voyage up, in a Jitorm, a »«a»mn named W. Bare was wnßhed overboard and drowned. Three of the four men arrested on a charge of committing the burglary at Porter'rf, have been committed for trial.
