Mr Quin moved that a special meeting be called tor that day fortnight, to take into consideration the necessity of appointing a paid secretary. — Seconded by Mr Gat in and earned. A statement was read showing tho receipts from the baths from the Ist January to the oth June were £317 10a (id, the exf3nditure t'224 15s !)d, and that there was a balance of t'.V>, which was set aside tor the erection of a batli for the use of the Maoris. Mr Quin said he had been under the impression that the current wages and other works had been paid for out of the £1000 grant. . . Mr Gavin was of the same opinion. The Chairman said the grant had been expended on buildings and improvements, which had been under the control of the engineer. Mr Gavin moved that a statement be prepared, showing how all moneys, including the grant of £1000, had been spent, and what works have been performed since the Ist January last. Seconded by the Chairman, and carried. . Mr R. Brennnn applied for the exclusive fight for a period of ten years, to place advertisements in the bath-houses and to erect hoardings in the Domain at a rental of £1 per annum for the first ten years, and £2 for the remainder of the term. Held over. Mr Green made an offer to supply A ietter was read from the Native Department stating that a subsidy towards providing a medical officer for the natives could not be given, owing to their limited number, but thought » grant in »id might be allowed. Mr Quin moved that an application be made to the Government for the sum of £2000 for further improvements and additional bath-houses, and that a statement thereof be prepared, together with drawings of the proposed extension of the Domain, to be forwarded to members of the House, and to the Minister. Seconded by Mr Gavin and carried. It was resolved to alter the bathing hours during the winter to 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., and that the men's attendance be curtailed accordingly. " This was all the business.
