DEATH OF A GIANT.

Fred Decker, better known as the " Ossian giant," died at his home at Swains, Allegany County, Sunday night, at the age of 50 years. During his earlier life he was seven feet two and one* half inches in height, and weighed 325 pounds. As he greyv older he became round-shouldered, and at the time ot his death he was but s|x feet eleven inches high. Some years ago Mr Decker was for a time an exhibit; in a New York museum, and for his services in this capacity he received $80 per month, but the idle life he there led grew distasteful to him and he returned to his native county, where he could enjoy the freedom of outdoor life and make practical use of his extraordinary strength.— Elmira Advertiser.
