At the special sale held at Mr Day's on Thursday, June 3rd, in con3squence of the e\treme wet day, there w.is not a very large attendance. Stock looked to disadvantage. All the cattle with the exception of a few dairy cows sold at fair prices. The hor.ses wore hold over for Hamilton special sale on Wednesday next, !)th inst. The pigs and fowls were very choice, and nearly all sold. Besides Mr Day's cattle, about 50 head were brought for disposal by neighbour*, but time would not permit of offering, and were held over for our next Ohaupo Hale. Horse stock were yarded iv full numbers, and sold steadily without reserve. Strong three-year-old colts ranged from £9 to £11 15s, and pood heavy drauglit'broiighfcjup to £25. At the hide and skin sale on Tuesday, June 1, hides brought from 3Jd to 4}d the lb, calf-skins, 4d to 4M, at 3s the cwt., sheBpbkins from Dd to Is S)d each. At Remuera on Thursday, June 3, dairy cattle maintained their values. Store cattle were scarcely repre-ented. Fat cattle, in full number, were of good quality and sold freely at an advance of 5s to 10s over last week's pricea. The general average of the market was at 18s, and a few choice pens reached 20s the 1001b?. Sheep, in moderate supply, scarcely maintained last week's values, particularly those of best quality, but lambs were in "demand at full vhlues. Pigs were plentiful and of good quality. Last week's improved values were sustained. Fat calves, scarce and required, Messrs Hunter and Nolans Wrkkly Report.— Horses : The market during the past week has not been quite so brisk as on the previous week ; but few strangers put in an appearance, but there was considerable excitement over the pl.mt of the estate of the Lite Mr Webber. Tho number of entries at the Durham Yards was quite up to tho average, and competition wrts fairly good ; tho greater number found purchasers at about the picvious week's value?. Wool, hide*, and skins : Above an average number were pitched at the Durham Yards on Thursday ; competition for hea\y hides was particularly brisk. Prices ranged at from 3W to 4jjd, skins from Sd to Is 7d eacli. Cattle : The number brought forward has not been particularly largo, but buiticient for requirements. Prices did not alter materially. At the Newmarket Yards, on Tue«dav, below an average number were placed in the butcher's pens. Pressing wants could not lie supplied, consequently prices were much in favour of the vendor. Dairy cows vvere scarcely as numerous as on the previous week. There was a good muster of the latter at Papakura on Wednesday, as well as store-, for all of which there was good competition, and all were disposed of at fully pre\ ions quor.itiona. Sheep : The vitality exhibited the last few weeks has continued, and prices have been favourable to vendors. Wethers sold at from 12s 9d to I,*K ; ewes from 10s 0d to 12s (id ; lambs sold at from 7s 3d to 8s Gd. Pigs : very few yarded <m Tuesday, prices nominal. Messrs (t. W. ,Binnkv and Sons' Report. — At our sale on Tuesday last the attendance of buyers was large, and bidding spirited throughout. Thi' demand for heavy o>c hides exceeded tho supply, so prices advanced from £d tn |d per lb. Cow hides and light steer, however, declined about -Jd per lb. Damaged hides were dull of sale. Calfskins bold freely up to 4 : i'd for best, and, 4d to l\(\ per lb for medium qualities. Reports by the last mail from Australia advise a rise in light hides, so we expect a cones, ponding rise in this market.
