MR McGOVERN'S PROMOTION.
The following appears in the Gazette of the 13th of May :— Armed Constabulary Officer Promoted. Constabulary Office Wellington, 11th May, 1886. His Excellency the Governor has been pleased to promote. Sergt. -Major Francis MoGoverk, Of the New Zealand Armed Constabulary (Police Branch) to the rank of Thirdclass Inspector from the sth inst. J. Ballakcm.
The Karioi Road Board notify their intention to make a rate. A Te Awamutu impounding notice appears in another column. Messrs W. J. Hunter and Co. have been instructed by Mr G. Sodergreea (who is leaving for Kimberley) to sell by auction at the Commercial Hotel Yards, Hamilton, on Wednesday, June 9th, the whole of his livery plant", horsei, Ac. Also they will sell horses, dairy cow*, &c. Easy terms can bo made with Mr Barton for the use of the stables, where monthly sales are held fey the auctioneers.
