Cambridge.

The weather was vppy fine f'»r the atliletie sports at O.ainbr'itlpei'and there was a large number of people present. The foot races were contested along Duke-t>treet, round to Eort-htreet. The other portions of the programme were held in a small open apace at the rear of Kirkwoods hotel. The spectators therefore were obligee! to alternate between the two places to witness the events. A better selection of a site for holding the sports should ha\e been nmde, the paddock being very objectionable. The -choice wan neither complimentary to the public, whose patronage was necessity to make the attair a success, nor to Her Gracious Majesty, whoso day of nativity they were hiipposed-to honour. There were inuny complaints of this ; otherwise, with a well selected ground the day would have been satisfactory to everybody. The committee worked very haul, especially Messrs Bach and Macky. The following is a record of the events :— Maiden Race.— Paldrige.l; McKearney, 2. j Running Long Jump.— H. Carter, (18 ft.) 1 ; Hitchman. (17 ft.) 2. 100 Yahds Handicap. — McXeibh, 1 ; McKeainey, 2.
