Lovnov, May 17. The result of the tenders for the Austialiftn Federal mail set vice has been made public. The only two companies applying are the Orient Company and the Peninsular and Oriental Company. The Orient Company tenders at 12s per lb. for letters, and a fixed sum of £750 per voyage in lieu of charges on books and newspapers. The Peninsular and Oriental Company declines to tender by weight, but ia willing to undertak*» th» required service for a subsidy of £115,000 per annum for a contract extending over seven years, or £100,000 per annum for a pe-iod of ten years. The Colonial Institute will hold a conference in connection with the Exhibition in June. The Peninsular and Oriental Steam Navigation Company have declared a dividend for the past half-year at the rate of 5 per cent, per annum. Madrid, May 17.
