In the Homo of Commons to-day, Mr Gladstone moved the second reading of the Bill embodying the Government proposals with regard to the establishment of local autonomy in Ireland. In the course of an e\hausti\e speech, the Premier stated that ho was willing that tlic question of the retention of Irish members in the Hou»e of Commons should be fully considered in committee, and suggested their appearance in debates dealing with questions of Imperial taxation, and that a joint English and Irish Committee should considor questions involving the interebta of the Empire. London, May 11. The debate on the Home Rule question has been adjourned until Thursday, the 13th. Mr Chamberlain, it is believed, will not be contented with the concessions made by Mr Gladstone, and will vote for the rejection of the measure, which it is generally expected will take place.
