Cold and «vhito, The full moon's light Shows every stone in the spectral pass ; Mountains high Lift to yon sky, v Boulder on boulder and mass upon mass. Their stern foreheads frowning gloomily. Cold and white, Down the grim height Rushes a torrent in maniac mirth To the lake, . Whose black depths shake And froth on their border of barren Ji earth, Where never a daisy will summer make. Cold and white, , , In the keen moonlight Gleams a knife in a murderous hapd ; Gaily on, .-' l With a light love-song On his lips, comes the victim. "Villain, stand !
