Tamahere.
A.T the meeting of householders held in the Tamahwe schoolroom on April 27th the district was fairly represented. No doubt a larger gathering would have been present, but owing to the short notice many knew nothing about the meeting until it was over. The following were elected a committee for the year 1886 :— Messr* < S. S. Graham (chairman), L. B. Ewen (secretary and treasurer) H. Fennington, J. W. Smith, T. Pennell, G. Care and W. Armstrong. It was resolved (1) that the committee meet once every three months, (2) that the Board of Education be communicated with re teacher's residence, and (3) that a concert be held next month in aid of the school fund. The old committee, bafore going out of office, resolved to present Mr Marshall (the late teacher) with a testimonial. They feel that not only the schooL but the district will feel the loss of Mr Marshall. He was a gentleman liked by all who knqw him. reipected by the children, and always willing to give. a helping hand when re;qaired. The only consolation ths patent^ havafc knowing he has been promoted to a school nearly five times the size of that at Tamahere.— (Correspondent.)
