Insolrency of Mr Greenwood. ' Auckland, Friday Night., Mr Gkkknwood, auctioneer, haa-filed [a declaration in bankruptcy.-" The assets are set down at £63,000, butr-nre not expected to realise anything like tfiat arriount. The liabilities are set down at £'48,000, of which £30,000 are secured, and £12,000 unsecured. The largest of the secured creditors a,re the New Zealand Land and Mortgage Co., Mr Wro. Aitken, the Colonial Bank, and Mr Tlmrne, while Mr John Abbott is said to be a large unsecured creditor. Tawhiao's Visit. Tawhiao, accompanied by his son, Tv Tawhiao, Henare Kaihau and other chiefs arrived here somewhat unexpectedly by twin from Onehunga today. The "king came by train 'frofr. Tauuin to Pukekone on Tueaday ' last. Thence he proceeded by coach to Waiuku on Wednesday. He tvns entertained by the Waiukn settlers in the Public Hall, when Capt Hamlin, M.H.R., presided. ThatJ gentleman, in proposing the to»bt of " the guest," strongly advised him to become a member of the Legislative Council. Tawhiao, in responding, intimated that he intended to proceed to Wellington this nession. He further stated that all differences between himself and the Government might be settled in one day. Tawhiao and Te Whero conferred with Sir G. Grey this afternoon. Address by Sir G. Grefr.* ; Sir G. Groy will deliver an address in important social qestions at St. Jamee'a Hill dn Wednesday evening. Professor Aides takes part it the proceedings. ■ Charge of Fraud. I The police court to-day was occupied all day with the charge of fraud against Bolton. Kviffence was given by Mr H. Williamson, Crown Prosecutor, that Bolton had obtained his-endorsement to a promissory note on the representation that £500 was comi*? to him, and bad at the very time been taking steps with his wife to prevent the monoy coming to Mr Williamion.
