Auckland v. Cambridge.
This contest came off on Good Friday on the court at Cambridge, in a aeries of three matches of five Rets each, and resulted in a victory for Auckland. In the fir*t match, Messrs Barton and Ridings played for Auckland, and Messrs Clarke and Fitzgerald for Cambridge. The former scored all the points in the first three sets. In the second match, Messrs Morey and Tolhunt represented Auckland, whilst Mesure Clarke and Hunt upheld the honour of Cambridge, and th« first three sets were given in favour of the country. The third match was very closely contested, and considering the great cracks they had opposed to them, the Cambridge men came off remarkably well. Messrs Barton and Riding* were for Auckland, and Messn Fitzgerald and Hunt for Cambridge, Auckland winning the first sot by 6to 4. The second was won easily by Auckland, owing to the darkness of tho evening having set in.
