[reuter's telegrams.] London, A|>iil2l. A dkspeuate attempt lias been made by th« rebels in Burmah to destroy the town of _ Mnndalay by fire. Fortunately the British garriaon had sufficient warning to prevent the attempt proving vusco^f ul. Mandat-at, April 21. Reports from Bhamo state that a force of 200 Britinh have been carrying on oporationa in the Kachin district (north of Bhamo). The stockades of the Kachines were carried by assault, and the rebels dispensed. The British troops have returned to Bhamo, with two officers wounded.
