CHRISTCHURCH, Monday. Yesterday afternoon Haywanl's dray, in going to Sumner, upset near Shag Rock, while endeavouring to pias another dray driven by a man named Bains, who, it is stated, attempted to prevent Hayward passing. Hayward"s thigh ami arms were broken ; he also received other injuries, and is in a critical condition. Three passengers were injured, but not seriously.

At the Police Court, to-day, a charge of conspiracy was preferred by Joshua Jones against three justices of the peace to the effect that they did, on the sth February last, at New Plymouth, amongst themselves unlawfully and wickedly conspire, combine and c nfodente, and agree together to sit, notwithstanding objections made thereto, and detciinine a case against Joshua Jones, to his great damage. A large amount of evidence was taken, the substance of which was that defendants had determined to sit and try the cass, although they had been summoned as witnesses, and refused to obey the summons and give evidence. Further hearing of the case was adjourned till tomorrow. The dwelling-house of Mr Ciiristinsen. Omata, was burned down in the absence of the owner and family. It was insured for £100 in the Union.
