KIHIKIHI.
THE HOLIDATB AND THE RAILWAY. Mr Walton, Chairman of theTe Awamutu Town Board and Mr Fa.-rel!, Chairman of the Kihikihi Town Board, wrote to Mr Hudiwm asking for an excursion train for Easter Monday, tickets to hold good for the ordinary train next day. Mr Farrell got tho following reply :— " With reference to your letter of the 15th mat., I have the honour to inform you that on Good Friday an excursion train will leave Auckland for Te Awamutu, also on Easter Saturday, (as per hand bills, enclosed) you will see that excursion tickets, available for return up to May 3rd, will be issued by these trains. I cannot see my way to run an excursion to Te Awamutu on Easter Monday. The conveyance of people to and from the Auckland racecourse will fully occupy all our stock.— (Signed,) 0. Hudson. The fares from Auckland to Te Awamutu for first and second class return, available to 3rd May, will be 18s and 13s respectively. This is a step in the right direction, giving townspeople a chance to come and stop in the country for a few days. A similar concession to the country to admit of them staying a few days in town would be very acceptable. THE B. C. CONCERT. The concert which was to have been hold on the 17th March in aid of the Roman Catholic Church was postponed owing to the absence of Father Luck. It will be held on Easter Monday, when we may expect as usual a good evening's entertainment. The committee have written to Auckland asking for the assistance of some Indies there, and so far as I can learn they will be here.— (Own Correspondent.)
