ALEXANDRA NEWS. Tawhiao's March Meeting.
As yet there are bat few arrivals to Tawniao's March meeting at Whatiwhatihoe. Yesterday was tho day named in the circulars for the assembly. Tawhino himself it present, with Major To Wheoro and » few other cKicf*. A number of Southern natives ar« expected ti> nmvo hourly. A* yet nothing has been done, and few preparations have been mado to lueuivo visitors. I fancy the meeting will bu but n very imall one, as all the natives near here are pretty ]>roBlablr employed, either on the railway line^roaddontractn, or working for EuroDean*.
Mr Sage's Contract. The m*n employed by Mr Sajje, the contractor for the bridges and culverts on the Alexandra-4Cawhia road, who were stopped last week at Whatiwlutihop, are now at work on a culvert at Kani.ikiint.ißpo, nomt diatance further on, and are allowed to work on without interference.
RM Court. At the Resident Magistrate's Court held here on Friday last, before Mr H. W. NorthCPoft, R.M., tho case \V. Hughe* v. T. Hughes, fur wrongful conversion of sheep, was adjourned until next court day. In the case Aubin t. Smith, debt £9 Oi 9d, there was no appearance of defendant, and judgment went tor plaintiff.
