NEW PLYMOUTH Tuesday. Colonel Whitmoke is holding an inspection of the volunteer corps in this dis triet, including the Ingles ood and H<iwcra men, who anived this morning by train. At the review to day Colonel Whitmore Mid the movements were executed in a highly creditable manner.
CHRISTCHURCH, Tuesday. On examination of the four cases of salmon ova. the Canterbury consignment of the lonic's shipment, it was found that a large number were dead, but about half the ova are good, and this is con sidered a very satisfactory result. Jji the case of trout ova all the eggs weie dead, it is supposed from being frozen during tbe passage out.
DUNE DIN, Wednesday. In Banco to-day, in the case of Egyptianno v. the Bank of New Zealand, arising out of George Turnbnll's sugar transactions, the Court gave judgment for plaintiffs for £2300 with costs. Last night Dan Mcßae, a boy, was very badly injured by being struck by tbe buffer of an engine at the Hanover-strert railway crossing. He waß struck on the head and thrown on the cattle trap, sustaining serious injuries to his back. He is progressing favourably.
