ROMAN CATHOLIC MISSION AT HAMILTON.

V mission' conducted by the RedemptoiUt Fathers commenced at S. Mary's Chinch, Hamilton East, on Sunday. Father Hegarty arrived at Hamilton on Saturday from Te Aroha, and Father O'Neill followed yesterday, having stayed to coin plete the mis-ion at that place. The mission at S. Mary's was opened on Sunday at the 11 o'clock Mass. There was a very good attendance in the morning, and in the evening the chinch was crowded with a devout and attcnthe congregation. The pieacher on both oceaion-> was tho Re. Father Hegarty. [» opening the mission in the morning he told the people that he was there on the pait of God to remind them of cert.iin truths and certain duties that were frequently f-u-gotten and neglected. He was theie to remind them that they had each and every ono of them a, soul — an immortal soul — and that their greac and primary duty was to save that soul. He reminded them also of the dreadful alternative of neglecting that all-important work. The rev. preacher ended by a fervent exhortation to take advantage of the mission, which wai sent to them by God in the interests of their souls. The subject of the evening discourse was " Mortal Sin," preceded by a short explanation of the devotion of the Rosary. The mission will continue during one week only. Early Mass and instruc tion at (3.30 a.m., a second mass with instruction, chiefly for children, at '.) a.m., and evening devotions commencing at 7, and consisting of rosary, sermon on one of the great fundamental trutha of religion, concluding with Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament.
