HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY.

The Show Committee of the Waikato Horticultural Society Imd a meeting on Tuesday afternoon in Mr Dyer's office, Cambridge, and transacted a considerable amount of routine business. The following names were added to the committee :— Messrs J. P. Sharp, G. Dickinson and G. Hamblin. Staging and door committees were appointed and Messrs D. Richardson, F. J. Brooks and J. P. Sharp were appointed stewards. We have to draw particular attention to the alterations in the advertisement appearing in this issue, and especially thatof intending exhibitors to the notice requesting them to enclose each exhibit in paper bag* marked with the name and classification of each kind of fruit. This plan will save the committee an infinite amount of trouble in arranging and assorting the several kinds. The Committee has met with much success in obtaining social prizes from the residents of both Cambridge and Hamilton, a list of which appears in this issue. We also remind exhibitors that the entries for the prize schedule must be lodged not later than the 13th inst, and for the special prizes on or before the 15th. Arrangements for a special train from Auckland are complete, particulars of the hours of departure of which are notified in the advertisement.

Messrs W. I. Hunter and Co. will sell at the Cambridge Yards on Monday, the 15th inst, 1500 fresh six-tooth cross-bred ewes (in lots to suit purchasers) overland from Napier. Mr John Knox will sell at the Hamilton Auction Mart, on Saturday next, furniture, grates, fowling pitccs, poultry, produce, pure spaniel, &c.
