COMMERCIAL. Waikato Time Office, Monday. WAIKATO LIVE STOCK MARKETS.

Mr J, S. Buckland Reports.— Have h<id a busy week, auction sales being held «n Saturday, Tuesday, Wednesday, fhursday and Friday. At the sale of furniture, etc., in Cambridge on Saturday, 27th February, there w.in not a large attendance ; bidding was dull and prices rnl^d low, but all was void, including the piano and harmonium. At the bazaar, on Mine day, there was a better attendance of buyers, and entries in poultry, pig*, potatoes and horse stock were above the average, and an increased amount of business was done. Plough and waggon horses were in demand and wild well, a* did also good sound hack-). On Tuesday, at Ohauix> Live Stock Sale, the average number of cattle were yarded, but bidding for all classes, especially grown steers, was dull, and many pens were passed at the auction, though several lots were afterwards placed privately. Fat c<»ws were yarded in full numbers, and met a ready «ale, ranging in price from £3 Ijs for heifer-i to £5 for good cows. At Tamahere on Wednesday, at Thompson's clearance sale of furniture, there were very few people present, but notwithstanding, nearly all lots were Hold under the hammer. At Puko on Thursday Murray's clearance nale of all his live and dead stock was a groat success. A very largo attendance from all parts of the country, and spirited competition existed throughout the sale, and with few exceptions all lots sold at satisfactory prices. The following are some of the principal sale* effected :— Waggon, £10; dray, £10 ; disc harrows, £7 10s ; drill, £5 ss ; winnowing machine, £4 ; scarifier, £3 ; double-furrow plough, £7 ; Cambridge roller. £10 : harrows, 30s ; harrows, £3 12s (id ; chain narrows, £3 ; and other farming requisites and tools at full valued. The cattle were welf-bred, and in good condition, and sold at fair prices. The horses were of a good class, and sold at a considerable advance over regular market prices. The sheep were in good condition, and sold in luts as follows :— ll2 wether lambs, 6s 3d, Alley; 107 wether lambs, 6s 3d, Alley; 166 ewe lambs, 7«, Alley ; 94 ewe lamba, (is, Alley ; 50 lambs, 5a 3d, Barrett ; 157 lambs 4d (id, Williamson ; 100 half-bred ewes, 7*. Barrett ; 50 ditto, 6b 9d, Jno. Hunt ; 31 ditto, (is 3d, Barrett ; 119 Lincoln ewes 8-», Harrison ; IGI ditto, 8s 3d, Gray ; U 0 fourtooth ewes, 9s, Rathborne ; 40 ditto, Alley ; 118 cross-bred ewes, Gs 9d, Horrell ; 33 agod ewes, 4s 3d, Gray; 33 wethers, 7s 6d, Buttle : 4 Lincoln rams, £3, Harrison ; 2 ditto, L' 2, Strange ; 3 ditto, £1 r>s, Coy ; 1 ditto, 255, Barrett ; 5 ditto, 10s, Campbell ; 8 merino rams, 9s, McNicol. The furniture and sundries all sold at most satisfactory values. At the Waitoa sale on Friday the yards were filled with cattle of a good class, principally grown steers and cows in forward condition. All cattle, except six cows, were sold at the auction at advanced prices. 26 steers, 3to 4 years old, in forward condition, sold at an average of £1 15s ; 22 grown steers in low condition, £3. 42 cows sold at prices varying from £2 10s to £4 10s, or an average of about £3 10s each ; dairy cows, £4 to £4 10s. No sheep or horses were sold. On Saturday I sold privately 1000 Napier ewes at (is each, 18 Lincoln rams a* 27s 6d, and 2 Shropshire Down rams for £1 Is and £1 10s each.
