FIRE AT CAMBRIDGE.
A fire occurred at Cambridge at about four o'clock on Sunday morning, which resulted in the total destruction of the premises in Victoria-street belonging to Mr McCann, and quito recently repaired for Ufee us a butcher's shop. The building was fortunately situated some distance fiom any other, therefore no further damage was done. There is nothing to hliow how the fire originated. The building had been iiuurod in the South British for £100 but the policy had UpstxJ. The previous s-tatement to the effect that tiie.se premises had been taken by the Freezing Company for the purpose of opening a retail branch of their butchering business, proves to be quite unfounded. It w.M the intention of Mrs McCann to htait business of her own, woiked by her sons and she had just gone to the expense of putting up an entirely new verand.il) and ather repairs. She is in consequence of the fire a heavy loser, for, besides the building) aha has also lo.it pulleys, scaleb and other requisites of the butchei ing trade.
