Madkas, March 1. His Excellency the GovernorOeneral, Earl Dufferiu, arrived hero to-day from Burmah.
Loxdox, March 1. Tenders were opened to-day (or the Timaru Harbour Board loan of £100,000 at five per cent. The minimum for which the loan vraa fixed was £102. The total amount tendered for was £580,000. Tenders at £105 13s 6d receive 20 per cent, of their application ; above that in full. The we.ither is very inclement, s»evere snow storms having prevailed over the United Kingdom during the last twenty -four hours. Australian tallow of fair average quality, beef is quoted at 24s Id, and mutton is 24s Gd. The stock of t.illosv in London is 17,800 casks.
March 2. The Australian mails, ex Orient Co.'s Orient, January 20, were delivered via Naples yesterday.
