A GENIUS AMONG BAILIFFS.

A novel mode of executing a warrant of arrest for debt was adopted by one of the bailiffs of the East Kent County Court the other day. The bailiff was in quest of a young man residing at Throwloy, who had on previous occasions given a gi'ont deal of trouble, the bailiff being every time frustrated in his attempt to catch the debtor. Having heard that the young man was to bo married at Throwley Church, Croucher the bailiff, betook himself to tho sacred edifice, arriving there just aftor the bridegroom had entered to await the arrival of the bride. Croucher 7ery considerately de. cided to wait patiently outside until the marriage ceremony was over, and then to sorve the warrant on the bridegroom as he came out of the chure.h. Meanwhile, however, a friend of the debtor came plong, and suspecting tho nature of Croucher's mission, got into conversation with, ascertained the amount that would satisfy his demands, and paid it on tho debtor's behalf. The bridegroom was thus enabled to go off on his honeymoon, instead of pacing the firft few days of his mirried life in He Majesty's prison at Canterbury, as he would have done but for the timely arrest of the execution of the warrant.
