WELLINGTON, Tuesday. The Temperance Conference commences on Monday. Among the delegates present will be Sir William Fox and Mr T. AY. Glover, Wellington ; Messrs A. Speight, It. Xcal, Cox, and Carrick, Auckland ; Loch, Nelson ; Easthopc, Wairarapa ; J. W. Jago, D. C. Cameron, and F. Fulton, Dunedin ; J. Harding and R. C. Harding, Napier ; C S. McDowell, Greymouth ; J. Smith, Christelm icli. Tlie temperance party in Wellington have decided to appoint a deputation to wail on the Government, with the view of getting the provisions of the Licensing Act more ligidly observed in the city than is said to be the case at present.
DUNEDIN, Tuesday. A girl, 11 years of age, was brought up to-day, charged with stealing a number of ai tides ft om a shop. She had been sent a message from the country by her mother, but came to town, and going louml the streets, took au umbrella, two hooks, and » rug from different shops.
