ENGLAND AND EMIGRATION. London, February 19.
Ax influential deputation waited upon Enrl Granvillo to-day, in reforeuco to alleviating tho present distress among the unemployed by moans of emigration. Lord Granvillo, in replying to the representations of the deputation, stated that lie was in favour of State aid to the emigration of workmen to the British colonies. He added that ho hoped for the creation of an official emigration department. A London despatch of February 20th to the Press Association is as follows : — An influential deputation has waited on the Home Government urging that a permanent loan be floated for tho purpose of encouraging State emigration, the emigrants repaying the money advanced by easy instalments.
